Jamie Garcia | Halo Machine

Jamie Garcia ( @apetiteperformer ) is a dancer and performance artist whose work illustrates a narrative and personal sentiments living as a Filipinx American womxn. Her style of movement can be described as pedestrian, heavily composed of impulsive and reactionary gestures. In her interactive and immersive performance art, she approaches the peculiar and embraces the uncomfortable. Jamie produces passion projects through a movement collective she founded called The Wabi-Sabi Society. She has a background in modern, urban/hip hop, Filipino traditional dance, and ballroom, specifically Latin partner dancing. She was fortunate to perform in prestigious locations such as Carnegie Hall and The White House. Prior to graduating from George Washington University in 2011, she studied modern dance and movement composition under Maida Withers.
